Underdark The Spectator (Location, Killing & Loot): Baldur’s Gate 3

The Underdark is home to many monstrous creatures but not all that lurk in this location originate from it, such as a certain Spectator.

When you venture into the Underdark and stumble across a group of petrified Drow, it is later revealed that their fate is caused by a Spectator.

Once you encounter the Spectator in the Underdark, you are left with the option to fight to the death as running away could result in a predator easily killing its prey one by one.

The Spectator Location

You can find the Spectator in the Underdark near the Selunite Outpost, which will be to the west of the outpost and accessible from two different paths.

One way to get to the Spectator would be to start from the Selunite Temple and head out to the damaged part of a wall that you can climb down from.

Another path would be starting from another entrance in the Underdark and making your way to the path at the side leading around the west part of the Underdark.

This is often a way for players to head into the Selunite Temple while avoiding its defenses, but the Spectator is often a surprise challenge for those who choose this path.

How To Defeat Underdark Spectator?

fighting with the Spectator

The first thing to keep in mind is that the Spectator will strike first as it often surprises your whole party, so make sure to heal up and restore your spell slots by resting.

If you can use any buffs that will help your party, be sure to use them before proceeding into the area where the Spectator spawns, and make sure your party is a bit spread out.

The Spectator will go first, and it will take several turns before you can get a chance to attack it, giving you a choice to fight it or the Drows that wake up.

To give yourself fewer problems, attacking the Drow targets that have been woken up with weak attacks will help snap them out of the Spectator’s control, making them side with you.

Utilize the advantage of having the Spectator attack the Drows and use your best attacks against it to deal as much damage as possible. (Strong melee characters suggested to jump close to it)

Once your party and the Drows that have woken up are fighting against the Spectator, you should be able to utilize your party better and eventually defeat the Spectator.

The Spectator Drops

Defeating the Spectator in the Underdark will allow you to loot The Spectator Eyes (Very Rare Amulet) from its body.

The Spectator Eyes provided its wearer to cast the Ray of Fear (Level 3) and Wounding Ray (Level 3) Necromancy spells.

Verdict

The first thing to keep in mind is that the Spectator will strike first as it often surprises your whole party, so make sure to heal up and restore your spell slots by resting.

Having your party strategically placed can give you an advantage, which can be done by sneaking around the area first as you position them.

This is one of the earliest Spectators that you encounter in the game in the Underdark while others may encounter one if they choose to journey through The Risen Road.
