Within the Shattered Sanctum, you will have a chance to become branded with the Absolute Mark, which depends on whether you want to push through with it or not.
Getting the Brand of the Absolute may provide you with certain benefits but there are also a few minor cons once you get the mark.
How To Get The Brand of the Absolute?
The Brand of the Absolute is a bonus that you can get after allowing Priestess Gut, who is also known as True Soul Gut. (She also has a tadpole in her head)
Speaking to her will give you the option of being branded, which does not require any skill checks for her to do this.
The downside of being branded is that Shadowheart will disapprove of this, but this won’t be that much of a problem if you plan to romance her. (You can always win her approval later)
If you miss the chance to be branded by Priestess Gut, you can swap to another character and speak to Warlock Greez to get the Mark of the Absolute.
The Brand of the Absolute Bonus
Becoming branded will allow you to gain access to certain dialogue options, which can help you get your way when speaking to certain enemies or NPCs.
There may be an issue when it comes to other NPCs such as with Brakkal, who will refuse to speak with you upon noticing you are branded.
Those who have the Brand of the Absolute may gain additional perks when wielding certain equipment that has synergy with the Absolute.
Absolute’s Brand Equipment
The following are the equipment and the bonuses that you gain if your character uses them while having the Brand of the Absolute.
- Absolute’s Protector – Allows you to cast Fire Shield: Chill once per Long Rest
- Absolute’s Talisman – Allows you to cast Aid on yourself that grants an advantage on Death Saving Throws
- Absolute’s Warboard – Improves Saving Throws and allows you to cast Heroism once per Long Rest
- Gloves of Power – Allows you to inflict Bane on weapon attacks
- Ring of Absolute Force – Allows you to cast Thunderwave and deal additional thunder damage.

Getting the Brand of the Absolute does not have that many cons as you will be able to progress through the story without issues.
For those who are worried about Shadowheart, you can still gain her approval through other means as there is a lot that can be done as you venture together.
Having the Brand of the Absolute provides you with benefits when you have gear of the Absolute, which can be a huge advantage as you play through the game.
