There are normal weapons and there are amazingly crafted ones and if you tend to create one for yourself, you might already be searching for a piece of Sussur Tree Bark.
The Sussur Tree Bark is a quest item and is considered a material as it is used in making a Masterwork Weapon, which also requires you to use a special forge in the Underdark.
Getting your hands on the Sussur Tree Bark will not be that easy though as there are creatures that guard the area and a mysterious Drow who lurks about.
Sussur Tree Bark Location
The Sussur Tree Bark can be found on the tree that it comes from, which is found only in the Underdark.
Locating the Sussur Tree Bark won’t be that hard if you have already gotten some of the previous quest items for the Finish the Masterwork Weapon quest.
You can find the tree around the west part of the Underdark where multiple paths lead to its location, where vines may be climbed, or a large branch may be walked on.
How To Get Sussur Tree Bark?
To get the Sussur Tree Bark, you will need to first locate the Sussur Tree and once this is done, you will have to fight your way through the Hook Horrors.
Aside from the Hook Horrors, you will encounter a crazed Drow who acts as a guardian in the area, and who seems to be in love with the creatures.
After fighting your way through the Hook Horrors and the Drow who is later revealed to be Filro the Forgotten, you may walk across the tree’s large branch and the Sussur Tree Bark.
Sussur Tree Bark Uses
The Sussur Tree Bark is one of the materials needed to Finish the Masterwork Weapon, which is done at the Blacksmith’s Forge in the Blighted Village.
Combining the Sussur Tree Bark with a Dagger, Greatsword or Sickle will allow you to create a Sussur weapon.
The following can be made at the Blacksmith’s Forge with the Sussur Tree Bark:
- Sussur Dagger
- Sussur Greatsword
- Sussur Sickle
All these weapons will cause your target to be silenced when you attack them, making this weapon excellent against spellcasters.
Filro The Forgotten
Filro the Forgotten is a Drow Mage who can be found in the Underdark and seems to have a connection to the Hook Horrors as they don’t attack him.
He will attempt to attack you upon realizing you are near him as well as the Hook Horrors, which requires you to defeat him to get to the tree without issues.
This mage is not a tough enemy to take down and you should be more concerned about the Hook Horrors that attack you.
One of the items dropped from Filro is an Icy Crystal, which is required to assemble Mourning Frost, a powerful staff that lets you cast Ray of Frost as a cantrip.
Verdict
Getting your hands on the Sussur Tree Bark can only be done once, making it important to decide what weapon you will craft later.
Aside from the Sussur Tree Bark, taking the Icy Crystal will allow you to later combine it with other parts that you find in the Underdark to make Mourning Frost.
Hook Horrors can be deadly enemies, and it is best if you take them out one at a time to focus on the one that is closest to you during a fight.
