Should You Drink Omeluum’s Potion in Baldur’s Gate 3

While searching for a way to get rid of the tadpole in your head, you may stumble across a merchant named Blurg and this later leads to you meeting a friendly Mind Flayer named Omeluum.

Omeluum notices the distress when he learns about the tadpole in your head that has not caused Ceremorphosis to begin, which is supposed to turn you into a Mind Flayer.

When Omeluum learns that you want the tadpole out, he offers his help, and this begins a quest called “Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite.”

Where To Find Omeluum?

Omeluum location map in the Myconid Colony

Omeluum can be found in the Myconid Colony, which is located in the northern part of the Underdark where Sovereign Spaw rules over its colony.

Before making you to Sovereign Spaw, you may find a Hobgoblin Merchant named Blurg on the right side of the path that leads to where the Myconid Leader is.

Speaking to Blurg will later cause Omeluum to appear and speak to your character, offering to assist them with a certain experiment that requires ingredients for a potion.

How To Get Potion Ingredients?

The ingredients required to create the potion include Tongue of Madness and Timmask Spores, which are said to be obtainable in the Underdark.

Omeluum suggests that you head to the Arcane Tower where a local cleric named Lenore De Hurst resides, but it is uncertain if she is still around.

The ingredients for the potion may be found on the first floor of the Arcane Tower, which acts as a Greenhouse that Lenore tended to.

Should You Drink Omeluum’s Potion?

Some may have thought that drinking the potion might turn you into a Mind Flayer or even kill you but there is no need to worry, Omeluum’s intentions are pure. (Yes, you should drink it)

This will eventually lead to the potion affecting you in a certain way that causes the tadpole in your head to respond aggressively.

Eventually, after Omeluum attempts to help, he is forced out due to the sheer power of the tadpole, resulting in the experiment failing.

Seeing that there is no way to remove the tadpole and that it has grown stronger, Omeluum offers you a Ring of Mind-Shielding to control its power.

How To Get Ring Of Mind-Shielding?

The Ring of Mind-Shielding does not have any other plot or effects that will give you a disadvantage but instead, it gives you an Advantage on Saving Throws against Charmed.

Omeluum may offer this to you, but he mentions that it is priceless and will ask what you can give to him in return for the ring.

You can choose to buy the ring from him, which will cost around no more than 200 Gold, which should be cheap at this point.

Another way would be to offer him a story or details about the Nautiloid, which will require you to pass certain Ability Checks that will result in you getting the ring for free.

Intimidation and Persuasion are also options that will result in you getting the ring for free but require you to pass higher Ability Checks.

Verdict

Getting the ingredients for the potion is not that difficult but requires you to go all the way to the Arcane Tower to obtain them. (Be careful of the Arcane Turrets – Bring Sussur Blooms)

Omeluum will not attack you even if you resort to intimidating him as he sees it as an effect of drinking the potion. (You can try again with other methods to get the ring)

After drinking the potion, you may experience effects from the ingredients, but these go away after a while and don’t cause any permanent harm. (So go ahead and drink it to get the free ring)
