Sulfur is one of the materials that you obtain in Palworld once you have begun to explore the world more, which eventually has you stumble upon it.
This is a key resource for making Gunpowder, which is used for crafting different kinds of ammunition depending on which firearm you use.
Similar to other materials that are mined, Sulfur can be obtained where its nodes are found, which makes having a pickaxe with you vital if you stumble upon them.
How To Get Sulfur?
1) Mining Sulfur
Locations where a lot of Sulfur can be found may be a bit far off from your starting location but there are always waypoints that you can use to teleport around the map.
You can find Sulfur in the Desert and Mountain Biomes, which are easy to distinguish by their appearance but you should be careful as there are dangerous enemies that lurk around.
Sulfur Nodes can often be found around Mount Obsidian while a few may be found scattered across the other regions.
You may find Sulfur Nodes in the following regions:
- Mount Obsidian
- Bamboo Groves
- Twilight Dunes
- Moonless Shore
- Verdant Brook
- No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary
2) Mining Sulfur In Caves
One of the earliest ways for you to encounter Sulfur is in some of the caves that can appear by chance in specific spots on the map.
This does not provide you with a huge amount but sometimes every drop counts, which makes it good to grab some if you have the extra weight.
Once you find the spots where Sulfur Nodes often spawn, you won’t have to rely much on going through caves to get this material.
3) Building a Sulfur Mine
Sulfur Mines were added in the Sakurajima Update and provide you with a way to produce Sulfur from the comforts of your base.
These may be unlocked once you reach Level 52 and may be unlocked with the use of Ancient Technology Points.
Once a Sulfur Mine has been crafted at a base, Pals that have the necessary level of the Mining Work Skill will be able to gather this material for you.
Best Places To Farm Sulfur
There are multiple spots where you can farm Sulfur at Obsidian Mountain but before you head over there, you will need to make sure you can handle the heat.
Be sure to equip yourself with heat-resistant armor or use a Pal that provides you with protection against the heat to avoid dying there.
Most of the Sulfur Nodes can be found scattered around the region but a lot can be found near certain bodies of lava. (Just make sure you don’t fall in)
Sulfur Uses
Sulfur appears to only be used for making Gunpowder at the moment and if you are planning to switch to firearms instead of bows and crossbows, you will need a lot.
This material is combined with Charcoal (not to be confused with Coal) to make Gunpowder at a High Quality Workbench or Production Assembly Line.
For each Gunpowder that you craft, you will need 1 Sulfur and 2 Charcoal and this can be crafted by your character or a Pal. (You can work together to speed up the crafting process as well)
Verdict
Firearms provide you with a better way to take out your targets in Palworld but they will need ammunition before you can start using them.
This makes Gunpowder vital for the later stages that you reach in the game, which makes Sulfur an important material as well.
A good way to passively farm Sulfur would be to make a base at a location where its nodes are and have your Pals farm the material on their own.
