Not all Field Bosses roam on the land or swim around the water, Nitewing can be seen flying in the sky and can be quite a threat to those who are not prepared.
The Nitewing (Level 18) Field Boss, who is also known as the Wings of Firmament is one of the powerful variants of Pals that you will encounter around the Ice Wind Island.
Engaging this flying Field Boss is a great way to gain experience and loot during the early stages of the game as well as obtain a Pal you can use to scout around.
Nitewing Location
You can find the Nitewing Field Boss flying around the southern part of Ice Wind Island, which is close to the Azurobe Hill waypoint or Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant waypoint.
Another waypoint near Nitewing’s spawn location (-276, -70) is the Ice Wind Island waypoint, which you can teleport to before flying south to the Field Boss.
Fighting Nitewing, Wings of Firmament
Nitewing is often found flying around but once engaged, it will drop to ground level and continue to attack you from that altitude.
Using the Air Cannon (Neutral) and Wind Cutter (Grass) Active Skills, it can deal damage to you from afar but these can be dodged.
You should watch out for its Tornado Attack, which is an attempt to lift you with either of two tornados before it performs a fast charge attack.
Keeping your distance from this Field Boss is a great way to get hit from all of its attacks but you will need to dodge Wind Cutter often as the projectile travels fast.
It will take increased damage from Dark Attacks and if you are looking for its weak spot, that would be its head down to a certain part of its neck.
Nitewing Field Boss Drops
After dropping Nitewing to the ground where you can defeat or capture it, the following items may be obtained as loot:

Verdict
Nitewing may be a flying Pal but it is quite slow and easy to outrun, allowing you to create distance between the two of you.
Using Pals that deal Dark Damage or apply it to your attacks can help you easily take out Nitewing but you might want to resort to ranged weapons.
The Ancient Civilization Parts and Leather that it drops can be useful for crafting while the Precious Plume can be sold for Gold Coins.
