Mau is a Dark Pal that has the appearance of a cat with a large golden tail, which is often thought to bring good luck to those who cut them off and keep them.
This Dark Pal is quite elusive as it is only found in some of the dungeons that can be found and explored on Palpagos Island.
Capturing this Pal will provide you with an agile companion that you can bring into battle or a hardworking Pal that can make you rich.
Mau Location
You won’t be able to find Mau by searching around the island but instead, you can find this Pal by exploring cave dungeons.
Mau Uses
Mau mainly serves as a companion that deals Dark and Ground damage to your enemies when summoned.
At higher levels, it develops stronger attacks and can equip Active Skills to deal large amounts of damage or to unleash continuous attacks.
Although its ability to work at a base is somewhat limited, it does feature the unique ability to dig up Gold Coins.
Partner Skill
Mau has the Gold Digger Partner Skill, which gives it the ability to dig Gold Coins up from the ground that can be collected.
This happens when Mau has been assigned to a base, where it will automatically go to the nearest ranch and work there.
Leaving Mau to work at your base will allow you to come back to find a lot of Gold Coins scattered at the Ranch and these may be picked up by Pals that have levels in Transporting.
Work Suitability
Mau appears to only contribute Gold Coins when working at a base, which is provided by its ability to work at a Ranch.

Verdict
Mau seems to me more of a Pal that was meant to generate wealth rather than a worker at a base due to its Gold Coin farming.
While this Dark Pal seems to be more of a companion than a worker, it can do wonders if it manages to gain higher levels.
Having several Mau working at a base with a chest nearby and Pals collecting the Gold Coins is a good way to get a good supply of riches to buy from merchants.
