There are many dangers in the Shadow-Cursed Lands and one of the threats you may encounter is a Meazel Ambush.
Meazels are creatures that tend to have a habit of garroting their victims, dragging them off, and strangling them to death.
There is a certain area where you will encounter some of these creatures and surviving their ambush depends on what moves you will make during or before it happens.
Meazel Ambush Location
You can find the area where Meazels are waiting to ambush their victim at a potter to the west of the House in Deep Shadows, which is also south of the Last Light Inn.
The Meazels often are revealed if you approach the area, which will give you the advantage of striking them first.
How To Defeat Meazels?
The first thing to keep in mind is that the Meazel may be revealed once you are near them, which can give you an upper hand.
You can take this opportunity to do sneak attacks to surprise them or resort to stealth to take them out without getting into a fight.
Meazels tend to teleport near your party members and will end up garroting them, which silences the target.
You can take advantage of this by keeping your party together and focusing on taking out the closest threat during the fight which will eventually wipe them out.
How To Open Potter’s Chest?
Once the Meazels are cleared out, you will be able to find a Potter’s Chest around the back but this will be locked.
You can always destroy the chest or pick its lock with Thieves’ Tools or simply use the Potter’s Chest Key which is located nearby.
The key to the Potter’s Chest can be found near the entrance or arc before you reach the area where the Meazels were before you fought.
It can be found in a Moveable Brick that should be revealed if your characters pass a Perception Check when approaching the area.
Potter’s Chest Contents
Within the Potter’s Chest will be a pair of Luminous Gloves (Uncommon) that provide its user with 2 turns of Radiating Orb when they deal Radiant Damage.
An Idol of Selune may also be found within the chest as well as a note that seems like a request for protection by one of Selune’s followers.
Taking the Note from the Potter’s Chest will add the Investigate the Selunite Resistance to your list of quests.
Verdict
Getting your hands on the Luminous Gloves can be useful if you use weapons and other equipment that have damage or passives that work with Radiant Damage.
This pretty much makes a good set of gloves to use if you have The Blood of Lathander since most of the enemies in Act II are undead and fiends.
Fighting Meazels can be a bit annoying since they can silence your characters when garroting and may even teleport away, bringing their victims with them.
