There have been two people murdered in the Open Hand Temple, one of the victims is Father Lorgan and another is a refugee named Brilgor.
An investigation is ongoing and Brilgor is believed to be the culprit, but Sister Yannis claims that this cannot be true. (Solve The Open Hand Murders is the name of a quest in Act III)
You may offer to help with the investigation to clear Brilgor’s name as well as find out who the real culprits are, but things can get a little tricky at the beginning.
Starting “Solve The Open Hand Temple Murders” Quest
This quest called “Solve The Open Hand Temple Murders” may be started in multiple ways, which includes speaking to members of the temple.
One of the main ways to start the quest is to either speak to Sister Yannis or Brother Donnick and after offering to help with the investigation, you can start finding clues.
Eventually, you will want to find the bodies of Brilgor and Father Lorgan since the use of Speak With The Dead can help discover more about how they died and who killed them.
Father Lorgan is located inside of the infirmary, where his body lies lifelessly with one of his hands missing and his body will be available to Speak With The Dead.
You may find Brilgor’s body in the cemetery and may dig up his body to use Speak With The Dead to get information about his murder.
Speak With The Dead reveals that a dwarf dressed in red used a poisoned blade to kill them while Father Lorgan was trying to hide Brilgor from the Flaming Fists.
Both the corpses will reveal that they were killed in a hidden tunnel under the Open Hand Temple, which is where you will head next.
You will need to head to the kitchen where you may find Brother Donnick and will find that there is an Ornate Wooden Hatch nearby.
Follow the blood trails until you reach a wall, which will have two buttons hidden behind Heraldic Signs on each side of the walls. (This is where the blood trail ends)
Upon approaching each side of the walls, the buttons may be revealed with a perception check and the Heraldic Signs may be interacted with.
Interacting with a Heraldic Sign will reveal a button that may be pressed and to open the hidden passage, you must press both buttons.
Continue making your way through the tunnels where you will hear chatter and once you progress further, you find 3 assassins. (Muzz, Rudd, and Zomm)
Killing the assassins will reveal that they are Doppelgangers and you may loot Zomm’s corpse to obtain a Flowery Key. (Provides access to a secret room in Fraygo’s Flophouse)
You may use Speak With Dead to get more information from Zomm’s corpse, where he will reveal that they are searching for Dolor’s dagger.
If you are curious about Dolor’s Dagger (Stillmaker), it is in a hole near a standing torch to the north of Liron Dusclotter. (One of the victims)
Asking about the Flowery Key will reveal that Dolor’s secrets are hidden somewhere in a flophouse, which is where you will need to go next.
Head to the third floor of Fraygo’s Flophouse and you will find a Wardrobe that may be accessed using the Flowery Key or by lockpicking to get to the other side.
If you are also doing the Find The Stern Librarian Ffion quest, you may approach the bed and pass an Intelligence Check to find Ffion Goldring’s body there.
Take the Bloodstained Parchment off of the table and this will reveal that there is a list of murders that are to be carried out and this will serve as your evidence.
You will need to bring your evidence to Valeria, who can be found on the second floor of the Sharess’ Caress, drinking to what should be a solved case.
Speak with Valeria and this will convince him that the case is not yet solved and he will direct you to Gauntlet Devella, who is in the Lower City.
This completes “Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders” but sets you on a path to continue with the Investigate the Murders quest. (Valeria helps you out by giving you a Lower City Pass)
Solve The Open Hand Temple Murders Quest Reward
Once you have reported to Valeria, he will provide you with a Lower City Pass, which grants you access to the Lower City.
This works as a way to get you into the Lower City without problems and is a vital step for progressing freely into the other area.
Where To Find The Murder Weapon?
You may find the murder weapon, which is known as Stillmaker (Very Rare Dagger) in a hole that can be found close to a crane.
This is near a torch found if you head north from where the victims are found (displayed as a matter of fact) and this will be revealed once your party members are near it.
Taking the Stillmaker is optional as the more important item to find is the Flowery Key but this dagger is quite useful for rogues and other characters who utilize such weapons.
Verdict
It appears that the plot thickens when these murders do not just stop at the Wyrm’s Crossing and several targets are yet to be warned.
You will need to help further with the investigation by seeking out Gauntlet Develle, who is later revealed to also be working on a recent murder.
Completing “Solve The Open Hand Temple Murders” is one of the best ways to get into the Lower City as the other method can be a bit difficult for some players.
