While exploring the Basilisk Gate Barracks, you may encounter an angry mother named Lora shouting at one Flaming Fists named Liara Portyr.
Lora’s daughter (Vanra) has gone missing and speaking to the Fists has ended up with nothing but disappointment and this leads to her asking you for help.
You will need to search for clues and figure out what has happened to Vanra and save her if you happen to discover her whereabouts.
Where To Find Vanra?
Just as Lora had claimed, Vanra does exit and has gone missing (Captain Grisly would tell you that Lora was delusional and had no daughter) and is at The Blushing Mermaid.
It turns out that Vanra has been kidnapped and you will discover that inside The Blushing Mermaid lies a hag’s lair, revealing that a hag is in the Lower City.
The thing is, you won’t exactly find her out in the open as you will discover that Auntie Ethel has eaten Vanra but all hope is not lost.
You will either encounter her in The Blushing Mermaid or inside of Auntie Ethel’s lair beneath The Blushing Mermaid depending on where you choose to confront her.
How To Save Vanra?
Vanra is inside Auntie Ethel’s belly as she is gobbled up to turn her into a young hag and this gives you time to save her.
Attacking Auntie Ethel and killing her inside her lair will cause Vanra to die as well, making it important to focus on getting Vanra out first.
To do this, you will need Hag’s Bane, a throwable potion that will cause hags to become weak and nauseous, which will force Auntie Ethel to vomit up Vanra.
This can be done in two places, which will either be at The Blushing Mermaid, where you throw the Hag’s Bane at Auntie Ethel, or down in her lair.
It is suggested that you do this in The Blushing Mermaid so that you can complete the Save Vanra quest before dealing with Auntie Ethel.
Once Vanra has been thrown up, you will need to deal with the Red Caps that appear in The Blushing Mermaid since Auntie Ethel flees to her lair.
Speak with Vanra afterward and she will run back to Lora’s Home, which is the second building to the east from The Blushing Mermaid.
You may speak with Lora once you find the mother and daughter together and Lora will thank you for helping her and reward you with items from her pirating days.
Rewards For Saving Vanra
Successfully saving Vanra from being turned into a young hag will reward you with the Amulet of the Wind Rider as well as the Duellist’s Prerogative.
The Duellist’s Prerogative is a Legendary Rapier that deals with additional Necrotic Damage and has additional features.
Amulet of the Wind Rider allows you to cast the Ride the Winds (Level 3) and Gust of Wind (Level 2) spells once you equip it.
Verdict
There are multiple ways for you to take on the challenge of saving Vanra but the best options are to save her as soon as you can before fighting Auntie Ethel to get the Legendary Rapier.
Hag’s Bane won’t be an issue to brew since the ingredients you need can be obtained by completing the Help The Hag Survivors quest.
During the quest, you will be tempted by a fake Captain Grisly to kill Lora as she claims that the mother is crazy and dangerous, which will end the quest in another way.
