How To Save The Kuo-Toa from BOOOAL in Baldur’s Gate 3

If you find yourself exploring the Festering Cove in the Underdark, you are bound to stumble upon a group of creatures called Kuo-Toa.

These creatures can be seen worshiping something and a member of them is lying on a table as if it was sacrificed, which has indeed happened.

The Kuo-Toa are seen worshiping a creature named BOOOAL and because of this, the creature has gained a certain power and continues to enslave the Kuo-Toa.

Where To Find the Kuo-Toa?

The Kuo-Toa can be found in the Festering Cove and will be found as soon as you move forward after heading down the Craggy Rock.

A few of these creatures can be seen from a distance once you enter but as you move closer, the whole group is revealed to be there worshiping BOOOAL.

Who is BOOOAL?

BOOOAL in bg3

BOOOAL appears as a creature that is first covered in blood with glowing red eyes but after passing the right checks and exposing him, it is revealed that he is just a Redcap.

The reason BOOOAL gained his power is due to the worship done by the Kua-Toa, which miraculously caused him to surge with power.

Since the Kuo-Toa believe that BOOOAL is the God of Murder, they continue to worship him and are enslaved to do his bidding.

How To Save The Kuo-Toa from BOOOAL?

Saving The Kuo-toa

To save the Kuo-Toa, you must first start the cutscene by approaching the group and this will result in you going through a Nature Check, which you must pass to recognize the creatures.

You will continue by exposing BOOOAL for the fraud that he is, by choosing the correct dialogue that will make him revert to his natural self.

Once BOOOAL offers you the power to keep your mouth shut, you can choose the option saying:

“I’ll just kill you and claim it for myself”

This will start a battle with your party going against BOOOAL (other options will lead to the Kuo-Toa fighting alongside him) and once you defeat him, the Kua-Toa turn to you.

After BOOOAL is killed, they recognize you as their true leader and ask you what to do next, to which you can reply with whatever you feel like.

It is recommended to reply by telling them to build you an army as these creatures make another appearance later.

Reward For Saving Kuo-Toa

Saving the Kuo-Toa makes them believe that you are their real God and this gives you the option to have them create an army for you. (They appear later during an important battle)

Aside from having the peace of mind of knowing you help these poor fish-like creatures out, you can also explore the Festering Cove to get lots of loot.

Verdict

It is quite strange how a Redcap has wandered on its own into the Festering Cove only to become the God of the Kuo-Toa and since the creatures are gullible, he easily won their worship.

BOOOAL will attempt to share the power that he gets from the Kuo-Toa worshiping him, but this will just come as a weapon called BOOOAL’s Sickle.

Choosing other options aside from saying that you will kill BOOOAL and claim the power yourself will result in you fighting the Kuo-Toa, which others consider a load of XP for your party.
