How to Rest and Leave Camp in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 has resting features that allow you to restore your character’s hit points, spell slots, and more depending on if you use a Short Rest or Long Rest.

Short Rests are good for restoring your characters to fight more battles while Long Rests may be performed to restore everything and progress.

While resting is easily done, this feature is often one of the earlier things you can do that many miss out on discovering when they most need it.

How To Rest?

Resting can be done by accessing the Camp and Rest Menu, which can be found near the bottom right of your screen.

Selecting this menu will give you options to perform a Short Rest, Long Rest, or simply visit the camp, which can be useful for swapping characters or taking items from your stash.

1) Short Rest

You have access to two Short Rests per day and these will restore 50% of your Hit Points and Spell Slots, allowing you to prepare for upcoming fights.

Your Short Rests will be replenished whenever your Party Does a Long Rest, as this is the only way to replenish them.

2) Long Rest

Camp Supplies

A Long Rest completely restores your character’s Hit Points and spell Slots and replenishes the number of Short Rests you have to fill.

Long Rest will require Camp Supplies, which are often food items found, and doing this will also progress certain events.

How To Leave Camp in BG3?

After visiting your camp or taking a Long Rest, you will remain within your camp and be able to interact with the other characters or fix your inventory.

Some may have found it a mystery during their first hours of playing Baldur’s Gate 3 when it comes to how to leave your camp.

This can be done by opening the Camp and Resting Menu and selecting “Leave Camp” or opening your map and choosing a waypoint to teleport to.

Camp Supplies

Camp Supplies are required for you to perform a Long Rest and a total of 40 Points need to be provided, which will be consumed after.

Certain food items will provide a certain amount of Camp Supplies while Camp Supply Packs give you enough for a night’s rest.

This makes it necessary to loot items whenever you can and send them to your camp to be used later. (You can see how many Camp Supplies are provided by viewing an item)

Verdict

When it comes to keeping your party in top shape, resting is vital but continuous Long Rests should be controlled as these can advance events.

Make sure that you don’t leave any loose ends as sometimes a Long Rest can cause the story to progress without you doing something important, causing the story to change.

Long Rests are often held for later once quests are completed or when all other options for healing are spent to prevent missing out on the story.
