The Arcane Tower in the Underdark has been abandoned for quite some time and this has caused the whole tower to lose its power.
While you and your party may enter the Arcane Tower, ascending and descending have become an issue as the magical elevator within requires power.
Fortunately, there is a way to restore the power to the tower and the solution is quite easy, which requires a trip to where its source of power comes from.
How To Find Power Generator?
The Power Generator can be found on the very last floor or the basement of the tower, which has a door leading straight to the garden.
You could of course head through the front door of the Arcane Tower but this would put you up against even more Arcane turrets.
The best way to reach the Power Generator would be to head to the very left side of the building and jump across to the large mushrooms.
How To Activate Power Generator?
The generator is powered by Sussur Blooms, and if you didn’t bring anything from the Sussur Tree, you won’t need to worry about that.
If you head over to the garden, which is right outside of the basement (Power Generator Room) you will see a small Sussur Tree growing with Sussur Blooms nearby.
Head over to the Power Generator and interact with it to bring up the combination menu and place the Sussur Bloom before confirming. (This will power the Arcane Tower)
Effect From Powering Arcane Tower
Powering the Arcane Tower by providing it with a Sussur Bloom will cause multiple effects to happen in the tower, which includes the following:
- Arcane Braziers light up
- Elevator becomes active
- Arcane Turrets deactivate
Once the Arcane Tower has power, you can freely explore the different floors that it has and even obtain the materials needed for certain quests.
These would be the Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite (Obtained from Sovereign Spaw) and the Discover the History of Prince (Obtained by picking up Orpheus Texts) quests.
How To Use Arcane Tower Elevator?
Once the Arcane Tower has power, you may use the elevator within the building to reach the other floors. (Other floors can be reached through windows but this is more convenient)
To use the elevator, head inside and you will find a button on the floor that will allow you to ascend to the other floors.
If you are on one of the other floors aside from the lowest one, another button will be available to press, which allows you to descend.
Arcane Tower Quests
Two quests involve the Arcane Tower and the requirements for the quests can be found on specific floors.
1) Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite
You meet Omeluum in the Myconid Colony and he will attempt to help you out with the parasite if you can find specific ingredients, which are known to be in the tower.
The ingredients include a Tongue of Madness and Timmask Spore, which can be found in the Greenhouse. (First floor)
2) Discover the History of Prince Orpheus
An Engraved Githyanki Disc called Orpheus, Prince of the Comet, Part One: Betrayal can be found on the third floor of the Arcane Tower. (Found on a bookshelf)
You can use The Careful Art of Tir’su Ciphers to read it or bring it to Lae’zel and may continue searching for the other two discs. (One at Githyanki Creche and another at Moonrise Towers)

Verdict
The Arcane Tower is a great place to get a bunch of loot that you might find useful later on, which also includes a lot of ingredients from the Underdark.
If you happen to answer correctly when it comes to Bernard, you can safely continue and loot items, but should you answer incorrectly, prepare for a fight.
It seems that the Arcane Tower has long been abandoned and Bernard was created to comfort the owner while they were still living there.
