If you happen to find yourself in the Zhentarim Hideout, you may come across an Iron Gate that is locked with chests inside.
These chests may be looted if you find the means to enter the room behind the Iron Gate and there are multiple ways for you to get inside.
While the Iron Gate is in plain sight, you may need to be a bit sneaky unless you want to get into a fight with the Zhentarim.
Iron Gate Location
When coming from Waukeen’s Rest, you will find the Iron Gate above the lower ground area to the northern part of the hideout.
You can gain passage after a quick cutscene where you can convince Zarys to let you pass, allowing you to roam freely inside the hideout.
If you attempt to open the Iron Gate and enter it afterward, you should be careful as this will make the Zhentarim hostile if you are caught.
How To Open Iron Gate in Zhentarim Hideout ?
1) Lockpick The Iron Gate
One of the easiest ways to open the Iron Gate would be to use a lockpick but you will need to make sure you don’t get spotted.
Hiding will allow you to see the vision of the Zhentarim in the area and when no one is watching, you can lockpick the Iron Gate to open it.
2) Open With Zhentarim Key
Another way to get into the room would be to obtain the Zhentarim Key, which can be found on Zarys but this won’t be that easy. (Garias is near Brem, scrounging through items in the area)
You can get the Iron Key from Garias by killing him or pickpocketing the key from him, but you should watch out as doing any of these may get you into trouble with the Zhentarim.
Burrow Hole
As you approach the Iron Gate, a Burrow Hole will be revealed near the side, which means there is another way into the room.
If you go to the side, you will notice that there are two crates, and moving this side will reveal a Burrow Hole that small creatures can enter to get to the room.
This requires you to have a spell that will change the size of your character, which can either be to use Wild Shape or other spells that alter your size.
Wooden Chest Loot
There are two wooden chests that you can open, which will allow you to collect the following from each of them.
Chest On The Left
- 285 Gold
- Bronze Ingot
Chest On The Right
- Infernal Iron
- 289 Gold
- Thieves’ Tools
Verdict
Getting into the room behind the Iron Gate may be a bit troublesome if you do not have the necessary means to access it, but from the Zhentarim Hideout, this can still be done.
Lockpicking may be easy, but you should time things right as one of the members of the Zhentarim will be patrolling the area. (Move very close to the Iron Gate to avoid them)
While there is no special equipment that can be found in the chests, you can get your hands on a lot of Gold and Infernal Iron, which is useful for later.
