The Shadow-Cursed Lands is a dangerous place to be due to the vile corruption that spreads all around, but this doesn’t mean that it will stay this way.
During your adventures, you can find a way to lift the curse from the Shadow-Cursed Lands if you meet certain conditions as you progress through the story.
This will permanently change the Shadow-Cursed Lands instead of remaining as it was when you first arrived and explored it.
Steps To Lift The Curse From Shadow-Cursed Lands
Initially, you can start a quest called Lift The Shadow Curse by speaking to Halsin once you have reached the Shadow-Cursed Lands. (You will need to complete other steps after)
You may also get this quest by doing the Wake Art Cullagh quest, which starts when you visit the unconscious man named Art at the Last Light Inn.
The following needs to be done to lift the Shadow Curse by the time that you reach the end of Act II:
- Recruit Halsin
- Reach Act II
- Complete Wake Up Art Cullagh (Quest)
- Complete Lift The Shadow Curse (Quest)
- Defeat Ketheric Thorm
- Take the Road To Baldur’s Gate
Once you set foot in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, you may speak to Halsin to obtain the Lift The Shadow Curse quest, which sets you out to find Oliver, Thaniel’s other half.
The Lift the Shadow Curse quest will also start if you find Art Cullagh, who is unconscious at the Last Light Inn. (The two quests need to be completed either way as they are connected)
After you have reunited Thaniel with Oliver, the Shadow Curse will not be fully lifted until Ketheric Thorm is killed, which is what you need to do at the end of Act II.
Defeating Ketheric Thorm brings you to the end of Act II, where you will need to make your way to Baldur’s Gate and once you do this, a cutscene begins.
During the cutscene, your party leaves for Baldur’s Gate, and upon looking back, they witness the Shadow Curse dispelling and a new life beginning.
Rewards for Lifting The Shadow Curse
Your attempts to lift the Shadow Curse will eventually allow you to recruit Halsin, who will permanently be in your party if the curse is lifted.
Should you fail to lift the Shadow Curse, Halsin will leave your party and will not be at your camp anymore, making it necessary to push through with it if you want him aboard.
Verdict
There is not much when it comes to rewards for lifting the Shadow Curse aside from the peace of mind of knowing the land is safe and having Halsin join you.
Taking on the quests is a good way for you to find a lot of experience and gain experience for your characters along with the addition to a better ending.
During Act II, there will be several other quests, and you may tend to explore, which may sometimes help you complete the previously mentioned quests faster.
