While in Baldur’s Gate, you are given the option to visit the hideout that The Emperor had used as his base of operations.
This requires you to visit the Elfsong Tavern and make your way through hidden passages to reach the hideout to complete the Visit The Emperor’s Old Hideout quest.
Whatever is left in The Emperor’s old hideout will be yours to claim, which may have some value to you and this also unlocks a way for you to reach Lower City Sewers.
How To Reach Emperor’s Hideout?
You will need to make your way to the Elfsong Tavern in the Lower City and head to the back where you will find stairs in the kitchen going down to the basement.
Speaking to Chef Roveer will allow you to take on a quest related to this area, which requires you to kill several rats in the basement. (Roveer’s Storehouse)
Kill all of the rats in the area so that you can proceed since a fight against several of them will start the moment you go down to the basement.
After dealing with the rats, you will find two doors in the basement, where the one on the right leads to the path to the hideout and the one on the right has a button.
Head into the room to the left and press the button on the wall and this will cause a secret entrance to open in the room on the right.
Go through the secret entrance (through the large wine storage) and there will be a door at the bottom of the stairs that leads to the Knights of the Shield Hideout.
The place will be crawling with Githyanki and you will need to dispatch them first before you proceed but there are two ways to approach.
You can either get rid of them using stealth or rush head-on and attack them recklessly, which both require you to clear out all the enemies.
It is a good idea to focus on the Gate Masters (2 on each side) since they are holding open portals that allow reinforcements to come through.
After clearing out the Githyanki in the area, head to the statue at the end and you will notice a button behind it. (Passing the Perception Check is optional)
Interact with the button to open the entrance to The Emperor’s Hideout and you can go inside to check on what has been left behind.
The Visit the Emperor’s Old Hideout quest will be completed once you interact with The Emperor’s Sword and pick it up.
