Grymforge is a large fortress that was built a long time ago by a group of Sharran followers, where the Adamantine Forge has been secretly built.
This location is one of the paths that you can take to exit the Underdark and reach the Shadow-Cursed Lands using an elevator.
It is here that multiple quests may be taken and several battles will take place depending on how you tend to progress with the story.
How To Get to Grymforge?
1) Find Duergar Boat
To get to Grymforge, you will need to make your way into the Underdark and look for the Underdark Duergar Boat, which can be found at the Underdark Beach.
On your way to the boats, you will find the Duergar that are stationed there, which is a group led by Gekh Coal who is currently on the hunt for a Deep Gnome.
Should you decide to help Gekh Coal out and obtain a pair of boots that were stolen by the Deep Gnome, Gekh Coal will instruct you to head to Grymforge.
You may obtain the boots or kill Gekh Coal and the other Duergar to gain access to the boat, which you need to interact with to voyage to Grymforge.
2) Crossing The Lake
After interacting with the Underdark Duergar Boat and starting your voyage, you will be intercepted by another Duergar Boat that has a high-ranking Duergar on it.
You may decide to proceed by passing Ability Checks to continue without trouble or may start a fight with them to finish them off there and loot them.
The fight on the boats will be a bit tougher than most, especially since you can be shoved into the water but the same can be done to your enemies. (You can’t loot enemies if they fall)
Upon arriving at Grymforge, a Duergar named Morghal will interrogate you and there will be dialogue options, but this leads to a connection with her.
Morghal will recognize you as a True Soul even if she isn’t and will let you pass but will demand payment, which you can say no to as she will let you pass either way.
Once the encounter with Morghal is done, you will be able to freely roam Grymforge to continue making your way to the Shadow-Cursed Lands or to explore.
Duergar Boat Location
The Underdark Duergar Boat can be found at the Underdark Beach, which is located to the west of the Selunite Temple or southwest of the Myconid Colony.
You will be able to reach the Underdark Beach by making your way through the Decrepit Village, which is where Gehk Coal and the Duergar are camped.
What is in Grymforge?
1) Duergar Encampment
The Grymforge provides you with access to multiple areas and this includes the Duergar Encampment, where the Duergar Mercenaries can be found.
This also is near the cave-in where True Soul Nere may be found and those who are set out to help him or take his head will want to make it here eventually.
2) Abandoned Temple
The abandoned temple is a part of Grymforge that is home to strange creatures, which include Hellsboars and Ochre Jelly.
You can explore this area to loot what is left of you and gain a bit of experience by killing off the creatures that you encounter.
3) Abandoned Refuge
Also known as the Ancient Forge, this is another forge located within Grymforge that is smaller than the Adamantine Forge.
It is here that you will be able to obtain Mithral Ore, which is a material that may be used to craft Adamantine Weapons or Armor.
4) Adamantine Forge
Beyond the Abandoned Refuge lies the Adamantine Forge, which is where you may craft Adamantine Equipment using Mithril Ore.
This is part of the Adamantine Forge quest, which requires you to fight the Forge Protector to gain access to the forge to craft equipment with it.

Verdict
There is a lot that can go on in Grymforge and aside from being a path to the Shadow-Cursed Lands, you may want to explore it to get as much as possible to prepare you for later.
The Duergar will not be hostile unless you attack them, which gives you free passage to plan how you will go on with the story, which may involve fighting Nere, saving the Gnomes, and more.
Depending on how you approach the quests that you have, the outcome of your adventure in the Adamantine Forge will be altered, making it necessary to plan.
