While traveling towards the Rosymorn Monastery in search of the Githyanki Creche, you stumble upon a woman named Lady Esther.
She tells you about her attempt to take a Githyanki Egg but she ended up failing and now requests for your help to get one.
Lady Esther has offered to pay you a large sum if you are successful and hand her the egg but depending on your actions, there will be certain consequences.
Githyanki Egg Location
The Githyanki Egg will be located within the Creche as there is a Hatchery where they are often hatched, which you can find north of the Infirmary.
Once you are inside the Githyanki Creche, head forward until you reach an intersection and take a left to reach two paths.
Take the path on the right to reach the Hatchery (the path on the left leads to the Infirmary) and you will be able to spot the egg at a distance.
How To Obtain The Githyanki Egg?
Keep in mind that making your way to the egg or Varsh Ko’kuu will be a bit tricky since there are traps, but these can be disarmed or avoided.
1) Steal The Egg
If you decide to take the brutish or stealthy approach, you can always resort to stealing the egg and take it by force or sneak around to snatch it.
This may be a bit tricky since Varsh Ko’kuu the caretaker of the eggs will be watching but speaking to him should be enough to distract him and make him turn away.
If you decide to fight the 3 Githyanki in the Hatchery, this will also allow you to easily make your way to the egg.
It is suggested to take Varsh Ko’kuu’s Boots for immunity to the acid in the hatchery since the area is covered with it. (This will allow you to avoid damage from the water)
2) Persuade Varsh Ko’kuu
Speaking to Varsh Ko’kuu will have him send you off as he needs to watch over the last egg but if you try to talk to him again, the option to persuade him will appear.
If you pass the Persuasion Check, Varsh Ko’kuu will ask a few more questions before permitting you to take the egg.
Additionally, to keep you safe from the water in the hatchery, Varsh Ko’kuu will give you his boots so that you may safely obtain the egg.
Stealing A Githyanki Egg Outcomes
Giving The Githyanki Egg to Esther
Depending on what you choose to do with the egg, there will be different outcomes and some of these can alter the story a bit depending on what happens to the egg.
If the egg is given to Esther, a Githyanki who is later known as Ptaris will grow up after hatching from it and ends up killing several Society of Brilliance members.
This will result in Esther, Havkelaag (The ones who raised him), and even Omeluum ending up dead, which also prevents you from obtaining the Retrieve Omeluum quest.
Leaving The Egg with Lae’zel
Should you leave the egg with Lae’zel (keep it in her inventory) when you reach the Epilogue, the egg will hatch, and she will name the boy.
This results in Lae’zel allowing the boy, who she has named Xan (this means freedom in Gith) to choose his path when he grows up.
Keeping The Egg
Should you reach the Epilogue without giving Lae’zel the egg or giving it away to the Society of Brilliance, the egg will be left at the Elfsong Tavern in a chest.
This will result in the news of a newborn Githyanki child having hatched from an egg who turns up exploring the bar that they were left in.
Verdict
It is vital to obtain the Varsh Ko’kuu’s Boots if you wish to safely approach the egg without being affected by the acid in the hatchery. (You need to avoid traps too)
If you hand the egg over to Lady Esther, you can steal it back without her knowing or kill her to take it back to alter the outcome.
While Lae’zel is quite the brutish character, she becomes quite fond of the egg, and this makes it seem like letting her keep it is the best choice.
