Insidious Cold (Special Passive)

Insidious Cold is a passive that grants a chance for Cold Damage that you deal to enemies to inflict them with the Chilled condition.

Chilled targets become vulnerable to Cold damage, which makes it easier to continuously use Cold Spells as your attacks, such as the unlimited amount of Ray of Frost casts.

How To Get Mourning Frost?

opening inventory and selecting the Combine option to get Mourning Frost

Mourning Frost is obtained by combining 3 parts that include the Icy Crystal, Icy Helve, and Icy Metal and these may all be found in the Underdark.

Heading to each location where a piece may be obtained will require that you either complete a quest or defeat certain enemies.

Once you have all of the parts needed to create Mourning Frost, you may proceed with opening your inventory and selecting the Combine option on one of the parts.

Placing all of the pieces in the slots will allow you to combine them into the Mourning Frost.

Obtaining Mourning Frost Components

There are a total of 3 different components required to create Mourning Frost and all of these can be found in the Underdark.

If you need a guide to find any of these components, you can find them below.

  • Icy Crystal – Obtained from Filro the Forgotten (Near Sussur Tree)
  • Icy Helve – Obtained from Dourn (West of the Selunite Outpost)
  • Icy Metal – Pale Corpse (Access through Guardian Gate at Myconid Colony)

Ray of Frost Evocation Cantrip

Mourning Frost allows its user to cast Ray of Frost as an Evocation Cantrip, which means you won’t need any spell slots to cast the spell.

This works well with Mourning Frost’s passive feature as the Cold Damage of Ray of Frost will be increased along with the bonus Chilled condition added to targets.

Verdict

If you love blasting your enemies with Cold Spells, the Mourning Frost will be the perfect weapon to have in your hands thanks to its additional damage and the Chilled condition.

With the ability to cast Ray of Frost at will without consuming any spell slots, the spell may be used for more than just damaging enemies, it can be used in other ways as well.

Going through the trouble of finding each of the pieces eventually concludes that none of the Drows were successful in finding the Adamantine Forge.
