The Sakurajima Update added new materials to Palworld but not all of them can be found around Palpagos Island and instead, some fall crashing down on it.
Meteorite Fragments are one of these materials, which are often obtained by chance based on an event that involves a meteorite crashing on the island.
While Meteorite Fragments may be seen as an easy material to collect, there are still dangers to consider as this isn’t the only thing that will come from the meteor.

How To Get Meteorite Fragments?
Meteorite Fragments are mainly obtained from fallen meteorites, which usually have an indication of the meteorite event when they will appear.
Once a Meteorite lands on Palpagos Island, you will see it visually on the map and before it lands, you can even see it fall from the sky.
Heading to these locations will allow you to collect Meteorite Fragments on the ground around the crash site and you can also mine these fragments by hitting the meteorite.
Additionally, some Pals will spawn in the area where the meteorite lands, and defeating them will also provide you with Meteorite Fragments.

Meteorite Fragments Uses
The description of Meteorite Fragments hints that you can use these at a Crusher, allowing you to turn 1 Meteorite Fragment into 3 Paldium Fragments.
While this may seem like an easy way to get Paldium Fragments, it is best to rely on Stone instead and conserve Meteorite Fragments as ammo.
Meteorite Fragments are needed to craft a new weapon called the Meteor Launcher and as well as the ammunition that it uses, Meteorite Bullets.
Additionally, you will need Meteorite Fragments to craft the Selyne Saddle and Xenogard Saddle to ride these Pals that were introduced in the Sakurajima Update.
Verdict
Meteorite Fragments can be useful during the earlier parts of the game if you feel like using them for Paldium Fragments but this is still not recommended.
It is best that you save as many Meteorite Fragments as you can to craft the Meteor Launcher early, which is a decent weapon as you progress.
Conserving more Meteorite Fragments is vital for ammunition since they can only be obtained once a Meteorite Event happens.
