Your adventures during the earlier parts of Act I in Baldur’s Gate will eventually lead you to the Emerald Grove, where you may find a prison in The Hollow.
There will be a Goblin named Sazza who has been captured and one of the Tieflings named Arka is furious about the death of her brother, Kanon.
This presents an opportunity for you to save Sazza, who will later be a useful asset when it comes to infiltrating the Goblin Camp.
Where To Find Sazza?
Sazza can be found in Makeshift Prison, which is located within The Hollow and you can reach her once you have entered the Emerald Grove.
You will first find Sazza being confronted by Arka, who is pointing a crossbow at the Goblin who she decides to blame for her brother’s death.
Once you make your way into the Makeshift Prison and approach Arka, Memnos, and the caged Sazza, a cutscene will begin where you can intervene.
How To Save Sazza?
Saving Sazza from Arka does not initiate the quest called Save Sazza just yet, you will need to prevent the Goblin’s death and speak to her.
In terms of saving her when you first meet, you will need to stop Arka from shooting a bolt at the caged Goblin.
This can be done during the cutscene that begins once you enter the Makeshift Prison and will require Ability Checks to be done.
Upon speaking to Sazza, the quest that tasks you with saving her sets you on a path of helping the Goblin out of the cage and escorting her out of the grove.
You can get Sazza out of the cage by picking the lock if you have Thieves’ Tools, using the Knock spell, or hitting the door with at least 22 damage.
How To Get Sazza Out Of Emerald Grove?
Once you have freed Sazza, you can talk to her and she can be convinced to lead you to the Goblin Camp and give you safe passage if you get her out of the grove.
1) Sneak Through Emerald Grove
Getting Sazza out of the grove by going through the main area will require sneaking and you are most likely to get caught.
This will lead you to do Ability Checks to convince the guards or anyone else who spots you to let your party and the Goblin go. (Quicksave and Quickload are recommended)
2) Go Through Underground Passage
Another option is to go through the Underground Passage, which you can reach by jumping down a ledge and going through the hidden entrance.
This is a similar method used when escaping if you have been imprisoned but will require you to fight past some Goblins inside. (Full party recommended)
After Escorting Sazza
Upon successfully escorting Sazza, she will have a quick word with you and mention that you will meet her at the camp.
Sazza will have planned for your safe passage, which will allow you to enter the Goblin Camp without trouble.
This eventually leads you to meet Minthara, where you can continue with putting a stop to the Goblins or join them to side against the grove. (This lets you recruit Minthara later)
Verdict
Most players would tend to rush into the Goblin Camp and fight their way past enemies or use stealth to infiltrate the area, but this provides you with a third option.
Sazza is shunned by most of the other Goblins, which leads to the fight in the Underground Passage, but you can get the upper hand by making the first move. (Sazza won’t react negatively)
Saving Sazza is a great way for you to get into the Goblin Camp early without going through the trouble of fighting the enemies there. (You can press the attack from inside)
