BG3 Yurgir (Location, Killing & Drops)

If you met up with Raphael before heading into the mausoleum, you will most likely have gotten the quest called Kill Raphael’s Old Enemy.

This eventually leads you to the Gauntlet of Shar where you may follow a Displacer Beast named Nessa lures you to an ambush.

At this point, you have the option to allow yourself to be surprised by Yurgir to speak with or attack him but, there is also an option to get sneaky and strike first.

Yurgir is located within the area of the Gauntlet of Shar and you can reach him by heading to the eastern part of the map.

Once you find the collapsed stairs, you will need to jump across the gap and follow the path heading to where the Displace Beast has gone.

If you prefer to surprise Yurgir, there is a path right before you enter the area where the Displacer Beast went and you may reach it by heading up the stairs.

How To Defeat Yurgir?

Convince Yurgir To End Himself

talking with Yurgir to make him kill himself

One of the easiest ways to defeat Yurgir is to just talk him into killing himself, which starts with you first speaking to him and asking him about his contract.

It turns out, Yurgir’s contract is in the form of a song and once he performs it, you can say bravo and he will mention that it has been a long time since he has had an audience.

After that, you can convince him that it is the audience that he needs to kill as part of his contract with Raphael, which can end up with him killing the Merregons.

Once that doesn’t work, you can convince him to kill the Displacer Beast and afterward, the same can be done to make him end his life with the hopes of being resurrected in Avernus.

Attack Yurgir and His Merregons

Attack Yurgir and his Merregons

The more difficult way to defeat Yurgir is if you attack him head-on by following the Displacer Beast and it is much better if you ambush him and his minions from the side.

Yurgir will tend to become invisible, and you should watch out for the bombs that are dropped during the fight as they can wipe your party out.

Playing defensively would be the best option, which involves staying in a safe spot at the side and even setting up a summons to fight alongside you.

Yurgir does not have that much health and once he turns invisible, you can either attack where he might be hiding or take out his Merregons until he shows up again.

It is important to make sure you deal with the Displacer Beast once it comes close to you to avoid it from creating copies of itself and attacking, you’re at melee range.

Yurgir Drops

If you loot Yurgir’s Body, you will be able to obtain the Hellfire Hand Crossbow (Very Rare Crossbow) from him, which has a chance to inflict Burning when you hit enemies.

For this to happen, the wielder of the Hellfire Hand Crossbow must be hiding or invisible, making this great for those who often use stealth.

Additionally, this Very Rare Crossbow provides its wielder with the Scorching Ray Shot Evocation Spell that deals Fire Damage.

You will also be able to obtain an Infernal Iron from Yugir’s Body, which can be used later when you meet up with Dammon.

Verdict

Getting Yurgir to take himself out is one of the fastest ways for you to deal with him, which later makes Raphael appear when you take a long rest.

Should you prefer to help Yurgir, he will later disappear with Raphael instead and you won’t get to loot his body.

Making sure that you attack from a safe spot is important to avoid getting overrun by Yurgir and his Merregons. (Don’t forget about his pet Nessa too, the Displacer Beast)
