When venturing into Lady Jannath’s Estate in the Lower City, you will find that the house is haunted by several apparitions, and one of the enemies you find is Cursed Skulls.
These skulls appear to be dormant at first but once you get close to them, they will cast Thunderwave and knock you and your back.
The main problem with the Cursed Skulls is that they have Medium Toughness, which makes it difficult to damage them but there are ways to get rid of them still.
Cursed Skull Weaknesses
If you examine the Cursed Skulls, you will find that they are weak against certain damage types but are also resistant to other ones.
The following are the types of damage that Cursed Skulls are weak against:
- Bludgeoning
- Radiant
- Force
How To Destroy Cursed Skulls?
1) Force and Radiant Spells
An easy way to damage Cursed Skulls is with a Force or Radiant spell that can deal a high amount of damage or simply a burst of damage.
You will need the attack to deal with at least 22 damages to penetrate the Medium Toughness of the Cursed Skull.
One of the best spells to use is Eldritch Blast if you have this as a cantrip, it will give you multiple tries against the Cursed Skulls as this won’t cost any spell slots.
2) Bludgeoning Melee Attacks
Since Cursed Skulls are weak against Bludgeoning Damage, you can easily damage them with melee attacks such as with a hammer or a maul.
You will need to score a hit that deals at least 22 damage to damage the Cursed Skull due to its Medium Toughness.
3) Remove Curse Spell
Casting the Remove Curse spell can be done on Cursed Skulls, which will immediately destroy them the moment the spell is done.
Make sure to start casting from a distance so your character has enough time to run up to the Cursed Skull to avoid being blown away.
4) Bludgeoning Thrown Attacks
Weapons that deal Bludgeoning Damage may be thrown to deal damage to a Cursed Skull but this is only if the attack will deal at least 22 damage or more.
To ensure your chances of destroying the Curse Skull are better, it would be best to use Bludgeoning Weapons that have the “Thrown” trait.
Verdict
It is much better to resort to a cantrip such as Eldritch Blast so that you can stay away and repeatedly cast the spell until the Cursed Skull is destroyed.
Melee attacks can do the job well, but this puts you at risk of being hit with a Thunderwave if you fail to destroy the skull, which makes it necessary to have a character that deals good damage.
Resorting to the Remove Curse spell is acceptable even if a spell slot will be used since it is better than not being able to get passed the Cursed Skulls at all.
