If you are looking for a shocking yet cute Pal, you might want to consider the Jolthog before moving on to anything more serious.
This cute Electric Pal may seem more like a mascot than a fighter but it does have its uses depending if you have it at your party or at your base.
While the Jolthog is an Electric Pal, it can later be combined with another Pal to create an Ice Variant, the Jolthog Cryst.

Jolthog Uses
Jolthog may accompany you if you add it to your party and summon it, which will allow it to deal Electric Damage and/or Neutral Damage to enemies.
If you happen to need electricity provided to your base, the Jolthog will attempt to charge a Power Generator if you have one.
You can activate Jolthog’s Partner Skill (Jolt Bomb) which pretty much turns it into a Shock Grenade that you can throw at enemies.
Partner Skill
Activating Jolhog’s Partner Skill (Jolt Bomb) will cause your character to equip the Pal in their hands but you will need to have the Jolthog’s Gloves (Key Item) first.
Once Jolthog is being held by your character, you may throw the Electric Pal and upon impact, an electrical explosion will take place.
Enemies within the range of the explosion will take damage and may be Electrocuted, making them easier to defeat or capture.
Work Suitability
Jolthog does not have that many roles but still works well at a base if you have no other Electric Pals that can generate electricity.

Verdict
Jolthog may be cute at first but once this shocking hedgehog-like Pal gets stronger, it can pack a punch in a fight.
If you happen to get one of these, you can take the opportunity and start building your way to having electricity at your base.
Using Jolthog as a Shock Grenade with its Partner Skill will not cause any damage to it and this can be a good way to deploy it in a fight.
