Precious Pelt is one of the rare materials in Palworld that you can obtain by defeating Pals and is currently considered a sellable valuable item.
These can often be obtained by defeating stronger Pals that are known to have fur on them while lesser Pals are known to not drop this material.
While it seems this material may have certain uses, it is currently just an item that may be sold to provide you with extra Gold.
How To Get Precious Pelt?
You can get Precious Pelt by defeating Field Bosses or Alpha Pals as these are often dropped by them, especially when they seem to have fur on them.
An example of a World Boss that drops them early in the game is Chillet but you can also get these from other bosses and most of the Alpha Pals that you encounter.
Defeating a World Boss or Alpha Pal will provide you with Precious Pelt and more while capturing and butchering them can get you twice as much.

Precious Pelt Uses
Currently, Precious Pelt is only used as an additional way for you to get Gold as this can be sold to Wandering Merchants to get 500 Gold Coin per piece.
It may be possible that this material may have more uses in the future but as of now, these are mainly to provide you with instant Gold Coins.
Verdict
While there are a lot of Field Bosses in Palworld, you can often find lower-level ones to hunt for Precious Pelt as they will be marked on your map once you discover them.
Targeting lower-level field bosses is a quick way to farm Precious Pelt and watching out for Alpha Pals will also provide you with this material.
As you progress through the game, you will likely obtain a lot of Precious Pelt and may use this as a backup source of getting Gold Coins.
