Tocotoco Feather is a common material that is often collected to craft certain types of head armor and of course, the source is hinted by its name.
These feathers are not that hard to obtain but getting your hands on them can sometimes be a bit tricky since they do not always drop.
Aside from needing to find Tocotoco to defeat, you will need to deal with them quickly or else they will attempt to blow you up.
How To Get Tocotoco Feathers?
Tocotoco Feathers have a good chance to drop from Tocotoco and since these Pals often spawn in large amounts, all you need to do is defeat a bunch of them.
You can find Tocotoco in the desert biomes of the map but approaching them can sometimes make them aggressive and they will attack you.
Be careful when taking on these Pals though as they can start their self-destruct sequence at any time and if this happens, they won’t drop any loot.
Tocotoco Locations
Since Tocotoco spawns in desert biomes, there are two locations on the island where you can look for them if you are out to get their feathers.
A large amount of Tocotoco often spawn around the Twighlight Dunes and some of them can be found scattered in the Dessicated Desert.
It is much easier to farm Tocotoco Feathers in the Twighlight Dunes since the area is small and mostly has Tocotoco spawning within it.
Tocotoco Feather Uses
Tocotoco is used to craft 2 head armor items, which are the Tocotoco Cap and the Grinning Tocotoco Cap, which can both be crafted once you get their schematics.
Both of these can be obtained from a Wandering Merchant and will provide you with Level 1 Neutral Damage reduction along with 20 Defense and 60 Health.
The only difference between the two of them is that the Grinning Tocotoco Cap appears to have its eyes slightly closed as if it had a happy expression.
When the Sakurajima Update went live, a set of Elixirs was added to the game that permanently increased your character’s stats depending on which one you drink.
Tocotoco Feather is used to make an Elixir called a Speed Elixir, which permanently increases your character’s Work Speed when consumed.
Verdict
As of now, there are only two items that may be crafted with Tocotoco Feathers, which makes it necessary to only get 10 in total for both caps.
Tocotoco are not much of a threat when they are alone or in small numbers but stumbling upon a group can sometimes be dangerous, especially if they have higher levels than you.
Capturing a Tocotoco is considered the same as defeating it and this will also have a chance to provide you with Tocotoco Feathers. (You can butcher them too for extra drops)
