The more you progress in Palworld, the more materials you will need, and of the most needed of them all is Polymer as it is used to make several advanced items.
This includes some of the structures and firearms that will give you an advantage as you reach the later stages of the game and can sometimes be a bit expensive to craft. (Even if it needs just one material)
Preparing to craft Polymer in advance is a good way to have what you need later as you progress as you will later be able to make this in bulk.
How To Get Polymer?
While this may not be the best option for obtaining Polymer, this material is one of the items that can be dropped when you defeat Jetragon.
This is not the best option for players who are still progressing through the game and may even prove to be difficult for those who are near or have reached Level 50.
The Jetragon does provide multiple materials when dropped but if you require a lot of Polymer, it is best that you resort to crafting the material instead.
How To Craft Polymer?
1) Crafting Polymer
Polymer can be crafted at a Production Assembly Line, which becomes available once you have reached Level 28. (Polymer can be unlocked in your Technology Menu at Level 33)
Each piece of Polymer that you craft will require 2 High Quality Pal Oil, which can be obtained from various Pals.
Having a Pal with high Handiwork Skill will allow them to quickly craft this material and you can even help out to make things faster.
2) Looting Polymer From Enemies
Another way to get your hands on Polymer would be to defeat members of the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre, who are humans that can be found on Mount Obsidian.
Defeating these enemies will give you a 20% chance to loot Polymer from each one that you defeat, which can come in handy if you are exploring the area.
Jetragon is a powerful Pal that can be found on Mount Obsidian that will drop 5 Polymer when defeated or captured but it only spawns as a Field Boss.
Uses of Polymer in Palworld
Polymer is used to craft items and structures that become unlockable as you make your way from Level 40 to Level 50, which makes it more of an endgame resource.
One of its important uses is for crafting various firearms that deal more damage to enemies as well as Circuit Boards used as a requirement for advanced structures.
The following are items that require Polymer when crafted:
Weapons/Tools
- Assault Rifle
- Decal Gun (1-5)
- Double-barreled Shotgun
- Homing sphere Launcher
- Hyper Grappling Gun
- Pump-action Shotgun
- Rocket Launcher
- Scatter Sphere Launcher
- Single-shot Rifle
Materials
- Circuit Board
Structures
- Electric Furnace
- Refrigerator
Saddles
- Grizzbolt’s Minigun
- Relaxaurus Lux’s Missile Launcher
- Relaxaurus’s Missile Launcher
Verdict
Once you hit Level 33, you will be able to unlock Polymer as it won’t be available in a Production Assembly Line until this has happened.
You will be able to craft certain firearms with High Quality Pal Oil but later, this material is best saved to make Polymer that is used for better ones.
Having a stock of Polymer is important when you intend to start crafting the more advanced structures that allow you to craft more items as well as repair them.
