Ore is one of the mid-game resources that you will need to start farming but this can be obtained early on in the game once you start exploring.
While this can be easily obtained by mining stone, it is best to look out for Ore Nodes that are scattered around the land as these provide a large amount of Ore.
Once you have a good amount of Ore, you can start refining it to produce valuable Ingots that are needed for better equipment.
How To Get Ore?
1) Defeating Pals
Certain Pals are known to drop a small amount of Ore when they are defeated and sometimes this may come in handy if you do not have any on hand.
This is one of the earlier ways for you to get ore if you don’t have any Ore Nodes around until you unlock the Ore Mining Site.
Only a few Pals on Palpagos Island drop ore but most of these can be encountered early and may be defeated for not only Ore but other materials too.
2) Mining Ore Nodes
Ore is obtained early by smashing large rocks but these only provide you with a small amount that is barely enough to progress to most of the other types of equipment.
You will need to search for Ore Nods, which appear as large rocks but have shiny metal veins visible on them. (This sparkles from a distance)
Using a pickaxe is the best way to destroy these as it deals extra damage to objects that are mined, which are found mostly in caves but appear in certain places in your world.
3) Building Ore Mining Site
Back then there were no other ways to get Ore aside from defeating Pals and mining them from Ore Nodes but when the Sakurajima Update arrived, Ore Mining Sites were added to the game.
Ore Mining Sites work similarly to the Stone Pit and Logging Site but offer Ore instead of other materials when you assign Pals to them.
Having an Ore Mining Site provides you with an unlimited supply of Ore and the better the Mining work skill your Pal has, the faster Ore is produced.
Another variant of the Ore Mining Site is the Ore Mining Site II, which provides more space for Pals to mine and offers a faster production rate for Ore.
The Ore Mining Site II is a large structure and this may take up more space but if you want a constant supply of Ore, this would be the best way to get it.
Setting up a base solely to provide you with Ore along with other materials such as Sulfur and Coal is a good place to build this structure.
Pals That Drop Ore
The following is a list of Pals that have a guaranteed chance to drop Ore when defeated, which includes their Alpha variants as well.
- Digtoise (2-3)
- Gorirat Terra (2-3)
- Knocklem (2-3)
Ore Uses in Palworld
Ore is initially required to make Ingots, which consume 2 Ore per Ingot and these are often used for making items later as you advance.
After progressing further, other types of Ingots will be available and may be crafted using Ore along with other materials depending on the product.
This makes having a lot of Ore crucial as the products that it can be processed into will be required by several structures, equipment and other items as you progress.
The following are the types of Ingots that require Ore:
- Ingot
- Refined Ingot
- Pal Metal Ingot
- Plasteel
Verdict
Just like in most survival games, materials that are mined need to be processed, and Ore is no different because eventually, you will need a lot of ingots.
Having a good stock of Ore is fine but it is better to make sure that these are processed right away so that you can use them to craft, build, and even repair your items.
Farming Ore is best done without carrying too many items as carrying a lot can weigh you down, which makes it important to stash your other stuff first before going out to mine.
