You may find yourself searching for a way to Wake Up Art Cullagh, which will eventually result in you meeting Malus Thorm in the House of Healing.
Malus Thorm is one of the many members of the family of Ketheric Thorm and he has also been turned undead and even altered with mechanical parts.
Eventually, you may find yourself in a conversation with Malus Thorm which later leads to a bloody fight or his excruciating death depending on how things go.
Where To Find Malus Thorm?
Malus Thorm may be found in the House of Healing, which is located to the north of The Waning Moon and the Road To Baldur’s Gate.
Upon reaching the House of Healing, a cutscene begins when you go near Sister Sinda, who prevents you from proceeding further.
How To Get Past Sister Sinda?
Since Sister Sinda will continuously get in the way if you try to proceed to where Malus Throm is, you will need to find a way to get past her.
This can be done by passing a Deception, Performance, or Persuasion Check before she allows you to pass, unless you want to get into a fight.
Another way to get past Sister Sinda is to just sneak past her, avoiding her line of sight and you can safely reach Malus Thorm without getting into trouble.
How To Defeat Malus Thorm?
Make Malus Thorm Kill Himself (Or Killed By Sisters)
When you reach Malus Thorm, a cutscene will begin where you will need to pass Ability Checks to allow you to select further dialogue options.
Eventually, you will be able to talk Malus Thorm into allowing the Sisters to kill him, which results in him lying down and being stabbed to death.
Convincing Malus Thorm to have the Sisters perform procedures on each other will result in the Sisters killing each other and Malus killing himself afterward. (DC 21)
If one of your party members has read the Surgery and Physiology: A Sharran’s Primer book, there will be other options to choose from with easier rolls. (DC 18)
Attack Malus Thorm
Should you fail your Ability Checks or decide to attack Malus Thorm, you will be fighting against him and the Sisters in the area.
Malus Thorm and the Sisters will heal each other often, making it necessary to take him down as soon as you can. (Malus can resurrect the Sisters too)
Taking out the Sisters is also a good option since this will cause him to spend his turns on them but he should still be a priority.
Once you have killed Malus Thorm, you will need to take care of the Sisters afterward but this won’t be much of an issue.
Malus Thorm Drops
After defeating Malus Thorm, you may interact with his body, which will allow you to obtain the following items:
- Key
- Battered Loot
- Supply Pack
- 57 Gold
- 3x Random Ingredients
- Surgeon’s Subjugation Amulet
Verdict
Resorting to having Malus Thorm kill himself (after his nurses have killed each other) is one of the fastest and easiest ways to get rid of him.
If you have convinced Malus Thorm to let his nurses kill him, they will not be hostile if you start looting the place. (You can attack and kill them to get experience though)
Defeating Malus Thorm is not necessary to find Arabella’s Parents as they are located in another room but this will be necessary to complete the Wake Up Art Cullagh quest.
