Upon visiting the Myconid Colony in the Underdark, Sovereign Spaw asks for your help as the Duergar have been killing younglings from the circle.
Sovereign Spaw has sent you to take care of a group of Duergar near the Underdark Beach, who are led by a Dark Dwarf named Gekh Coal.
This later leads to a larger discovery in the Underdark and has multiple ways for your path to play out while you explore the area.
Where To Find Duergar Intruders?
The Duergar Intruders that Sovereign Spaw refers to is a small group located in the Underdark Beach within the Decrepit Village.
These enemies are quite stealthy, and you may or may not see all of them, making it best to sneak up on the visible targets.
If you are noticed by the Duergar in the area, there will be a cutscene where you are questioned, and you can respond with certain dialogue that may result in confrontation.
Fighting The Duergar Intruders
The Duergar can be quite vicious if you are not ready for a fight and it is best if you get the first attack, which can be done by sneaking up on them.
You should focus on killing Gekh Coal first or else he will summon more enemies to fight alongside him, and this can take up more time or even give you a disadvantage.
Some of the Duergar may be invisible and it would be a good idea to spread your party a bit further from each other to avoid getting damaged for thrown or area of effect attacks.
Teaming Up with Sovereign Glut
If you look around the Myconid Colony, you will encounter Sovereign Glut, who is another leader of a circle that was slaughtered by the Duergar.
He will want to join up with you to get revenge on the Duergar and may be recruited, causing him to follow your main characters as long as you remain in the Underdark.
Upon defeating the Duergar Intruders, Sovereign Glut will ask you for help with taking over Sovereign Spaw’s circle, meaning he wants you to kill him.
You can decide to head back with Glut to kill Sovereign Spaw or to kill Glut at the Underdark Beach or once you reach the Myconid Colony. (You can report this later to Sovereign Spaw)
Rewards For Killing The Duergar at the Beach
While speaking to you about the Defeat the Duergar Intruder’s Quest, Sovereign Spaw will mention the Guardian Gate that holds riches within.
Coming back to Sovereign Spaw after defeating the Duergar at the Underdark Beach will result in the Guardian Gate being opened, allowing you to loot the room inside.

Defeat The Duergar Intruders Continuation
After you have defeated the Duergar Intruders, Sovereign Spaw (Or Glut if you betrayed Spaw) will ask you to cut the source of the Duergar Intruders.
This is a True Soul named Nere, who can be found in Grymforge and as proof of this, Sovereign Spaw wants you to bring back his head.
Following this quest will bring you to Grymforge, where The Adamantine Forge described in the book you got from the Pale Drow may be found.
Verdict
The Guardian Gate beholds riches that may help you later, especially The Great Furnace of Gyrmforge book, which gives instructions on how to use The Adamantium Forge.
Completing the How to Defeat the Duergar Intruders will result in you being able to access the Guardian Gate once you report your success.
Choosing to side with Sovereign Glut will alter the rewards for the next quest that was supposed to be given by Sovereign Spaw regarding obtaining Nere’s Head.
