The Apothecary’s Cellar holds a dark secret in the form of a Tome but before you can obtain it, you will need to get past the Rusted Iron Gate.
Making your way to the Apothecary’s Cellar is not that hard and once you reach it, there are multiple ways for you to open the Rusted Iron Gate.
Once you get past the traps and the locked gate, the Necromancy of Thay awaits you, which continues to be an item you will learn more about in Act III.
Where To Find Rusted Iron Gate?
The Rusted Gate can be seen just as you enter the Apothecary’s Cellar, which will be on the left side once you enter the cellar.
It is important to watch out for the traps that are both in front of the gate as well as within the room that you may reach when you unlock it.
How To Open Rusted Iron Gate?
Opening the Rusted Iron Gate can be done in a few ways and the easiest way would be to get your hands on the Rusted Key.
Aside from using the Rusted Key, you can also resort to using Thieves’ Tools to pick the lock on the gate but don’t forget to disarm the trap in front of it first.
Additionally, destroying the Rusted Iron Gate may be an option but earlier in the game you may not have the means to damage it, making this not a viable choice.
Where To Find Rusted Key?
The Rusted Key may be found within the Apothecary’s Cellar near the secret path that can be opened from within the cellar.
There is a room with a lever that opens a shortcut that makes it easier to go in and out of the Apothecary’s Cellar where the Rusted Key may be found on a shelf.
Necromancy of Thay Tome
The Necromancy of Thay is a Tome used by the owner of the cellar, who was obsessed with necromancy but no longer appears to be around.
Upon obtaining the Necromancy of Thay, you will need to find the Dark Amethyst to read it, which allows you to read from it.
Reaching Act III will allow you to learn more about the book, which provides you with multiple benefits later.
Verdict
Finding the Rusted Iron Gate is not that hard as well as opening it as everything can be found in the Apothecary’s Cellar.
Make sure to watch out for the traps as this may end up causing your characters a lot of damage if you miss them. (Perception Check will take care of this)
Obtaining the Necromancy of Thay can be useful later when you reach Act III as it gives its reader the ability to summon ghouls and more.
