How To Get & Use Lump’s War Horn in Baldur’s Gate 3

Being able to summon temporary allies in battle can be a huge advantage, especially if these allies can dominate your enemies.

There is a certain group of Ogres that you may encounter during Act I and they can be summoned into battle if you get on their good side.

This is done by using an item called Lump’s War Horn, which calls upon powerful Ogres who are motivated by gluttony and greed.

How To Get Lump’s War Horn?

the Ogres in bg3

To get Lump’s War Horn, you will need to approach the band of Ogres, and this will start a cutscene where they first see you as a threat.

After passing an Ability Check, they can be prevented from being hostile and may be convinced to serve you instead depending on what you have to offer.

Passing another Ability Check will result in Lump giving you his War Horn, which will allow you to summon them whenever you use it.

How To Use Lump’s War Horn?

To use Lump’s War Horn, you may place it in one of your consumable slots on your hotbar, allowing you to select it when you want to use it.

The War Horn may also be used from your inventory and once any of these methods are selected, the character holding the horn will blow it.

This will summon Lump the Enlightened, Cock, and Fank, who will fight beside you until the enemies in the area are cleared out.

You may only use Lump’s War Horn in Act I areas as the contract will not be active unless you return to Act I.

Where To Find The Ogres?

The Ogres in the Blighted Village

Lump and the two Ogres may be found in one of the destroyed houses in the Blighted Village, which is in the west part.

Heading into the building will reveal that they had just killed a Tiefling and are eating the body as shown in the cutscene.

Attacking the Ogres will start a fight with them but upon coming closer to them, a cutscene will be initiated where they speak with you.

Can You Reuse Lump’s War Horn?

Lump’s War Horn may be used again, and this is only if you offer Lump a sum of Gold or if you deceive him until your next encounter.

This will need to go on as many times as you plan to summon the group of Ogres in Act I if you want them to continue helping you.

Should you fail to pay Lump and his buddies, the group will turn against you and will have to fight the three of them. (Defeating Lump may cause the other two to run away)

Verdict

It would be best to avoid fighting the Ogres early if you just started as they can quickly take out their targets, including your party if they are hostile towards you.

A better option would be to recruit them (obtain Lump’s War Horn) so that they can be summoned when you face a tough situation.

You are in Act I, you can summon Lump and the other Ogres with a single blow of the horn but if you need them again, make sure you can pay up with Gold.
