When it comes to classes, builds and playstyles, Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot to offer but sometimes you may wish you would have done things differently.
With concerns on the class, you choose and options you pick when your character levels up, you might want to redo things, and this is possible.
After a bit of progression in the game, you have the option to respec not only your main character (Tav) but also your companions if you wish.
What is a Respec?
Respec is short for re-specialization, which often means resetting your character from scratch but keeping the progress that has been made.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, when you respec your character, this brings them back to Level 1 and allows you to level them up again.
Your character will retain the experience that they had as well as any other permanent buffs that they had before the respec.
How To Respec?
To Respec your character, you will need to talk to an NPC called Withers, who can later be found at your camp after you have progressed.
During Act I, Wither will appear at your camp before or after you defeat the goblins in the Shattered Sanctum or after the battle at the grove.
Speaking to Withers will allow you to discover what services he offers and one of these is to change your class (respec) at the cost of 100 Gold.
Where To Find Withers?
Once you have progressed to Act I, Withers will appear in your camp and will remain there every time that you visit him.
If you return to camp, you can avail of Wither’s services if you have the Gold to pay for which one you want.
Withers does not move to other locations in your camp and will remain in the same spot while he keeps to his tasks, which he keeps to himself.
Character Progression
If you respec a character, you will be able to increase their levels just as you did before based on how much experience you have.
Any effects that have taken place that are meant to permanently affect your character will remain after you have reset your character.
Once you level up your character after a respec, you will be selecting the level up options for each level that you catch up on.
Verdict
The ability to respec your character gives you the chance to try out new things, which includes classes and abilities.
This makes Withers useful for when you want to alter your build if you have made a mistake or would like to alter your character’s abilities.
The cost when it comes to doing a respect is not that high since all you need is 100 Gold each time you wish to reset your character.
