Baldur’s Gate 3 Priestess Gut (Location, Killing, Loot & Brand)

If you have spoken to Sazza during the time you decided to break her out of prison where she is being held captive in The Hollow, you may learn about Priestess Gut.

Priestess Gut is a True Soul and is also infected with a Mind Flayer Tadpole and Sazza tells you that you can seek help from her.

This starts a quest called Ask the Goblin Priestess for Help, which eventually brings you to Priestess Gut in your search for a cure.

Where To Find Priestess Gut?

Priestess Gut location is Shattered Sanctum

Priestess Gut can be found within the Shattered Sanctum and will be in a large hall filled with Goblins but if you have safe passage, you can roam freely.

You can gain entry by speaking to the Goblins and passing an Ability Check or if you have helped Sazza escape, when will help you get in.

Should I Let Priestess Gut Brand Me?

Upon speaking to Priestess Gut, she will offer to brand you, which will give you the Brand of the Absolute permanent bonus.

This provides you with unique dialogue options as well as the ability to use and gain benefits from certain weapons that those who have been branded may use.

Certain characters will not be happy with this and will cause you to gain disapproval while some NPCs will refuse to speak with you or will comply with certain dialogue options.

Priestess Gut Potion

Priestess Gut offering you a potion to remove the Mind Flayer Tadpole

If you comply with Priestess Gut’s requests (not including being branded), she will offer to help you but will bring her to a room where you both need privacy.

Within the room, she will offer you a potion as part of the process of removing the Mind Flayer Tadpole but if you pass an Arcana Check, you will know it will put you to sleep.

If you are wondering if you should drink the potion from Priestess Gut, you will fall asleep and find yourself chained inside the Defiled Temple.

You can eventually break out or will be helped by Korrilla, who serves the demon Raphael and this will result in Priestess Gut and the ogre Polma being killed.

Looting Priestess Gut after Korrilla will give you the following:

  • Priestess’ Key
  • Padlock Key
  • Rancid Note
  • Potion of Healing
  • Scroll of Burning Hands
  • Crude Mace
  • Absolute’s Warboard
  • Absolute’s Talisman
  • Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen

Should You Kill True Soul Gut?

Killing Priestess Gut would be one of the better choices as this will help you with certain quests and avoid you going through the trouble of getting captured.

This can be done once you reach the Shattered Sanctum, but it would be best to have her lead you to the other room to avoid fighting several Goblins at the same time.

Killing Priestess Gut will allow you to loot the following from her body:

  • Priestess’ Key
  • Potion of Sleep
  • Rancid Note
  • Crude Mace
  • Absolute’s Warboard
  • Absolute’s Talisman
  • Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen

Does Priestess Gut Remove the Tadpole?

Priestess Gut does not end up removing the Mind Flayer Tadpole from you and this is not only because she is loyal to the Absolute, but she also wants to experiment on you.

If you allow her to help you, she will make you drink a potion that puts you to sleep and will wait until you turn into a Mind Flayer.

This does not happen because you are protected from its effects and will eventually result in Korrilla coming to save you if you do not break out.

Best Way To Deal With Priestess Gut

attacking Priestess Gut with the help of Party Members

The best way to deal with Priestess Gut is to head into the room that she leads you to but instead of keeping your party out, you should bring them with you.

Once your party is inside, close the door and you will now prepare to attack Priestess Gut, which can go better if you darken the room by interacting with the candles.

Position your party members well and have them all hide before you attack Priestess Gut because the sooner you kill her, the lesser the chance she calls for backup.

This will end with her being killed and the Goblins unaware of what has happened, while you may enter the Defiled Sanctum with her key.

Verdict

Killing Gut can be done without alerting the Goblins, but you will need to be quick about it and once you have her key, you can explore the Defiled Sanctum.

Gaining access to the Defiled Sanctum will allow you to solve a puzzle that opens a passage that leads to the Underdark.

There are a lot of items you can loot within the Defiled Temple, but you should be ready to take on Polma, an ogre who serves Priestess Gut.
