If you make your way to the Owlbear Nest and do a bit of exploring before or after you have dealt with the Owlbear Mother, you might run into a Gilded Chest.
The Gilded Chest in the Owlbear Nest is seen along with different offerings and if Shadowheart is at your party, she will mention a Selune Statue, which is nearby.
This gives a hint that the chest along with the other items near it are offered to Selune and you can decide whether you want to take them or not.
How To Open Gilded Chest in Owlbear Nest?
This requires that you figure out how to remove the spell and to do this, you will need to start by jumping across the gap and head behind the Statue of Selune.
A Perception Check will take place when you go behind the statue, which makes it necessary to have all your members follow you just in case one character fails the check.
When the Perception Check is successful, a Selunite Prayer Sheet will be visible, and you may pick this up and head back to the chest.
Have one of your characters read the Selunite Prayer Sheet near the Gilded Chest and the spell will be removed, which also results in the chest being unlocked.
Gilded Chest Contents
Opening the Gilded Chest after reading the Selunite Prayer Sheet will allow you to obtain the following items:
- Selunite Rite
- Silver Necklace
- Bloodstone
- Idol of Selune
- Moondrop Pendant (Has the Writhing Dance passive feature)
Gilded Chest Location (Owlbear Nest)
The Gilded Chest can be found to the first left you can make when you go inside the Owlbear Nest, which allows you to grab its contents before encountering the beast.
Aside from the first path that you can take on the left side of the path from the entrance, you can also circle the back from where the Owlbear is.
You can use this path to your advantage if you want to position your party before an attack to get the drop on the Owlbear Mother.
Verdict
The Gilded Chest can be quite useful due to the items you can sell as well as the Moondrop Pendant, which gives a passive feature called Writhing Dance.
Writhing Dance can be a great passive feature to have as it lets you avoid Opportunity Attacks when your health drops to 50% or below.
Shadowheart may be hesitant at first about you messing with the contents of the Gilded Chest but won’t take it against you regardless of failing the Ability Checks.
