If you find yourself strolling around the southern parts of the island, you might happen to stumble upon a large Field Boss called Gumoss.
Also known as the Suddenly Transformed, this Level 11 Field Boss remains passive towards you until you attack it and it will come at you relentlessly regardless of how cute it is.
Defeating this Field Boss can get you a few rare materials that no ordinary Pals drop as well as a decent amount of early game experience.
Gumoss Location
Gumoss can be found around the Sea Breeze Archipelago at around (-113, -629) and is often seen around large flat pieces of land near the shore.
Its spawning point can be found between the Sea Breeze Archipelago Church waypoint and the Sea Breeze Archipelago Castaway Beach.
Fighting Gumoss, Suddenly Transformed
Once you find Gumoss, it will wander around and will be oblivious to your presence until you attempt to attack it.
After it notices you as a threat, it will begin attacking you with the Wind Cutter (Grass) and Sand Blast (Ground) Active Skills.
It seems that Gumoss will continuously attack you with the Wind Cutter but this can be easy to dodge as there will be a few seconds for you to regain stamina.
You can deal extra damage to the Gumoss Field Boss with Fire Damage and even Grass Damage since it also has the Ground Element. (Avoid Electric Attacks since they deal less damage)
Gumoss Field Boss Drops
You can choose to capture the Gumoss Field Boss or defeat it, which will provide you with the following items:
- Ancient Civilization Parts
- Berry Seeds
- Precious Entrails
Verdict
Gumoss may appear to be a threat due to its large size but this Field Boss is one of the easiest to beat, especially when you are Level 10 or higher.
While Grass attacks will do good against Gumoss (Since its Ground Element is weak against it), a good choice would be to use Fire attacks instead.
Regardless of using Fire or Grass though, you can easily deal a lot of damage to this large Pal and get useful loot during the earlier stages of the game.
